Hey
Before I get started, there are a couple things I need to say. First, be warned that there will be foul language. If you don't like it, don't read it. I will not respond to complaints about cursing. Yes, my son will be exposed to the foul language as well. He's almost 13 and he's heard it all. If a few F-bombs is all I have to worry about with him, I think we're ahead of the game. Second, I will be the first person to admit that I am not a great writer. I use spell check and I do my best with everything else. No grammar police allowed. Third and final, I will not be posting every day. Seriously, I have a day job and a kid.
So here we go. I am doing this mostly as a tribute to Anthony Bourdain. I was devastated to hear about his suicide on June 8, 2018. I loved his adventurous spirit.
Posts here will largely be regarding food and travel adventures. My son and I will be working our way through Bourdain's cookbook, Appetites: A cookbook, and posting photos and commentary. We will not be preparing every single recipe in the book - there are some things that I will just not eat. Like curry. I hate curry. Can't even stand the smell. I will try to keep an open mind about the rest. I'll even make the tripe. I also will not be making all the recipes exactly as directed, but I'll stay as close as possible to the original. Today, for example, both recipes we're making require a 400F oven. It's 100F outside and I am not going to heat up the house, so everything is going on the grill.
Will post tonight after dinner. Maybe. Or I'll get to it when I get to it.

Yay! Have fun with it, and playing with recipes is part of the fun for me.
ReplyDeleteIf the tripe is like the stuff from Florence, you won't regret it. It is nothing like curry. Although I love curry, especially the French West Indies stuff.
Looking forward to following!
Not looking forward to the liver and onions either, but I'll give it a shot. His recipe has got to be better than my mom's... The tripe will be interesting. I'll try it. Never have before.
